Geoportti - Open geospatial research Infrastructure

Geoportti - Open geospatial data research infrastructure is a digital research infrastructure through which researchers can easily access geospatial data high-performance computing resources via a centralized computing and cloud service infrastructure at CSC. Geoportti strengthens scientific renewal and excellence by promoting the widespread use of spatial data and geoinformatics methods, as well as by catalyzing collaboration and the creation of widely impactful spatial data innovations.

The research infrastructure offers over 20 services related to data collections, computing, equipment, geovisualization, and training. In collaboration with the EDIH Location Innovation Hub, it supports the national innovation system in addressing societal and business challenges that require spatial data solutions, including Geospatial Challenge Camp (GCC). Geoportti RI is on the National Roadmap for Research Infrastrures (2025-2028). The RI has been co-created through institutional funding since early 2010’s and dedicated project fundings from the National Research Council RI funding (OGIIR 2017-19, Geoportti RI 2.0 2022-24, Geoportti New Frontiers 2025-2029).
